JOHN GINOPOLIS AND CHUCK CARSON: OUR GREEK ODYSSEY BEGINS

Our ‘reconnaissance mission’ into Detroit’s flamboyant, warm-hearted and life-loving Greek community began with a couple of gentlemen who represent all of that and more.

John Ginopolis, owner of Ginopolis On the Grill in Farmington Hills Ginopolis' On The Ice in the Compuware Ice Arena in Plymouth, and Chuck Carson, the amazing Birmingham attorney, are two of the most recognizable faces in town, and were gracious enough to meet with the Visionalist production team at John’s landmark restaurant.  Beside the always-reliable nibbles, including spiced Greek sausage, tomato-feta bruschetta and fried calamari, the dynamic duo provided us invaluable insight into Detroit’s Greek world.  They shared stories of their childhood, an ‘insiders’ look at the development of Greektown and the business empires started, often humbly, by fortune-seeking Greek immigrants throughout Southeastern Michigan.  These are tales of triumph, often against seemingly insurmountable odds, and will serve as the foundation for ‘Our Greek Story’.

Of course, both Ginopolis and Carson have fascinating stories of their own, and we look forward to telling them.
