Shodo:  The Way of Writing

After filming Keiji Onodera, Master Calligrapher, give a lecture and demonstration on the art of Japanese Calligraphy in Ann Arbor; we wanted to see a full exhibit.  We were invited to film at the Alfred Berkowitz Gallery at the University of Michigan-Dearborn.  The exhibit is titled “SHODO: The Way of Writing.”  The Consulate General of Japan in Detroit, The Japan-America Society of Greater Detroit and Windsor, and The Shodo Journal Research Journal sponsors this touring exhibit.  The variety of styles and feelings expressed in this exhibit is vast.  It is an amazing exhibit that you can enjoy even if you don’t know much, or anything, about the art form.
