Sergio De Giusti

Today we filmed a great Detroit Italian artist. Sergio De Giusti is a sculptor who comes from the region around Venice, Italy. He immigrated here as a teenager with his parents, when they were unable to recover financially from World War II. In high school, one of his teachers introduced him to the world of sculpting, and he was hooked for life. He went to Undergraduate and Graduate school to hone his craft, and has proved to be one of most influential artists in Michigan. His works can be seen all around the state, including Wayne State University, Eastern Michigan University, Lansing State Library and in front of the Blue Cross Blue Shield building in downtown Detroit. Sergio exudes passion on his outlook on life and his Italian heritage.
